In this weeklong project, I collaborated with classmates Grace Gerber, Avery Caiazza, and Zoe Shay-Tannas in an extended reality space, utilizing the Oculus Quest headset and Gravity Sketch. We were to craft a meal experience by creating an environment with different objects, structures, and incorporating a unique narrative within the restrictions of the collaborative Gravity Sketch space. My group decided to document the experience that one has making and eating smores at a campfire. We did a live recording walking through the Gravity Sketch scene we created and edited in a voiceover narration of the experience afterwards.

We started by brainstorming what a typical s'mores campfire experience consists of, and what that look likes. We found inspiration online for the campsite (since Ohio State did not have what we were looking for).

Then, we made some sketches of what we felt our scene should look like.

After, we gathered the supplies needed to make s'mores, and made them together to refresh our memories on the process and necessities.

We 3D modeled a cooler for the drinks and chocolate, a tent for sleeping, and a picnic table for eating and enjoying company in Autodesk Fusion 360.

We made the trees, rocks, and shrubs in Gravity Sketch.

We also made the Fire, food, logs, and extra details in Gravity Sketch. Then, we brought in our 3D models and put everything together under a dome created in Gravity Sketch. Here are screengrabs of the scene!

Reflection: In conclusion, creating a campfire scene, and narration experience in Gravity Sketch was a great learning experience. It helped us collaborate from afar and teach each other different tips and tricks along the way. I find Gravity Sketch to be an amazing tool for visualizing concepts and coming as close as possible to experiencing them without real, physical models.
