In this three-week personal mobility project, we were told to develop a mobility device for a person in the age range of 13 to 25 years old that has temporarily or permanently lost their ability to move around easily. It would also need to embody Honda's visual brand language. I chose to create a device for my best friend, Claire Blevins. I interviewed Claire and empathized with her to understand her wants and needs while receiving treatment in the hospital. Here is my process and deliverables.
In reflecting on this project, I really enjoyed getting inspiration from Claire, and being able to create something that solves a real problem for my user. It brings up thoughts on further design in hospitals, both products that would benefit patients as well as the interior layout and design. I hope to continue to iterate on this opportunity through further research.
